The Herd
We have a herd of 20-25 beautiful cows on our Farm. They are a mix of breeds, but mainly Holstein Friesian and Jersey X. We run a Herford Bull with the cows when we are wanting them in calf. We calve year round, meaning a couple of calves every month. We hand raise all of these calves and sell them on to family & friends, no bobbies. Our animals health and wellbeing is extremely important to us. Our cows are pasture fed, with the occasional supplement of a wholesome NZ grown, GMO-free, palm kernel-free grain. We use homeopathic remedies & medicines when needed but if a stronger medicine is required, such as antibiotics, they are separated from the herd and their milk withheld until it is cleared from their system. We have sheep who graze the orchards and areas that are not suitable for cows, and the chickens & ducks give us farm fresh eggs!
